This programme aims to provide students with EU-wide recognised skills relevant to urban, rural, and natural planning, transformation and sustainable management, as well as to develop specialist expertise in the field of landscape analysis, assessment and evaluation, and planning.
After a common Year 1 and 2 curriculum, students will have two curriculum options for Year 3:
▪ Agronomy (title awarded: Junior Agronomist): focusing on plant nursery operations and management, as well as the design, planning, development and maintenance of urban green spaces, rural landscape, and natural areas.
▪ Planning (title awarded: Junior Planner): focusing on environmental sustainability in the implementation of land and landscape restoration and enhancement, as well as urban landscape design projects.

Course Structure 

All the modules in the programme have been developed considering the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary landscape design and planning, aimed at preserving and strengthening local identity, social values and sustainability, and at using ecology as a tool for interpreting landscape complexity and dynamics. 

YEARS 1 - 2: CORE CURRICULUM
Years 1 and 2 offer a range of subjects aimed at developing knowledge, competence, and skills relevant to:
▪ man-environment relationship; environmental matrices and biodiversity; landscape interpretation and representation;
▪ hydrographic network reconstruction and natural ecosystem restoration;
▪ landscape management policy and regulations;
▪ sustainable management of agricultural landscapes, parks, gardens, and urban green spaces;
▪ landscape planning techniques;
▪ peri-urban, rural area restoration. 

YEAR 3
After Years 1 and 2, Year 3 offers 2 curriculum options:
▪ Agronomy (title awarded: Junior Agronomist): focusing on plant nursery operations and management, as well as the design, planning, development and maintenance of urban green spaces, rural landscape, and natural areas.
▪ Planning (title awarded: Junior Planner): focusing on environmental sustainability in the implementation of land and landscape restoration and enhancement, as well as urban landscape design projects.

Admission Requirements 

The programme has unrestricted admission: applicants are however required to take a Basic Skills Assessment Test.
TEST FORMAT
10 multiple-choice questions for each of the following sections:
▪ English Language proficiency
▪ Mathematics
▪ General Chemistry
▪ Problem-solving and Critical thinking skills; Italian Language Listening proficiency

The pass mark for each section is 6/10.

How to Apply 

Careers 

After graduating, and upon passing a professional qualifying examination, it is possible to become a chartered member of the Professional Association of Agronomists and Foresters - section B, or join the Register of Architects, Landscape Planners and Architects, and Conservators - section Planners.
Graduates can pursue careers in:
▪ urban green spaces (parks, gardens) planning; ecological network and greenway planning; waterfront planning; therapeutic garden planning; plant nursery exhibition planning;
▪ disused industrial and waste disposal site recovery;
▪ landscape infrastructure and powerline integration;
▪ historical gardens and parks preservation and restoration;
▪ environmental and landscape impact analysis and assessment, also in the context of local environmental protection;
▪ land and landscape planning.
