Il professor Rafik Karaman è professore di scienze farmaceutiche presso l'Università di Al-Quds in Gerusalemme, Palestina. Ricerca, insieme al suo team, nuovi farmaci, applicando metodi computazionali. La sua ricerca è inoltre indirizzata alla sintesi di profarmaci da utilizzare per la somministrazione di determinati farmaci che hanno scarsa solubilità in acqua o/e hanno una bassa biodisponibilità nonché alla sintesi di profarmaci per mascherare la sensazione amara dei farmaci di uso comune.

Professor Rafik Karaman is currently a distinguished professor of pharmaceutical sciences, College of Pharmacy, Al-Quds University, Jerusalem, Palestine., Italy. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo and University of California (USA) for several years where he worked with Professor T.C. Bruice in the bioorganic chemistry and drug discovery fields. Professor Karaman is broadly interested in Drug Discovery, Drug Design, Computational Methods, DFT Calculations, Synthesis of Organic Compounds, Reactions Mechanisms, and in the design and synthesis of prodrug systems to be used for the delivery of certain drugs that have poor water solubility or/and have low bioavailability as well as the synthesis of prodrugs for masking the bitter sensation of commonly used drugs. Wednesday 01 December 2021 at 11.00 h Prof. Karaman will hold the seminar entitled "Dopamine, gabapentin, and guaifenesin prodrugs". He is glad to invite students and academics to attend.
